RUF commuters have the possibility of leaving the system at the same locations as the train. There are switching areas corresponding to each station along the rail line.

The ruf-train doesn't stop at the switch. Every ruf passes the switch at 30 km/h. Only the ones who are leaving the rail system will be directed to use the road. All other rufs speed up again to 150 km/h. The average speed of the ruf is 122 km/h compared to 85 km/h for the train. 64 km to the city takes 32 minutes in a ruf compared to 45 minutes for the train.

The bus/train commuter is at a standstill at one of the stations. Not many passengers use this station, but nevertheless the whole train is delayed 1 minute at each station.

A train is very heavy, so it takes time to brake and accelerate the train. The noise during braking can be very annoying.

In case of an emergency braking, you better not be standing or you may be hurt.
