Rufs can form a train

In the RUF concept all vehicles are able to be closely coupled.

This means that the front and the rear must be able to fit together reasonably well. Still a lot of design variations are possible.

The coupling is done while driving at low speed. When the train is ready (in a few seconds), the speed is increased to the top speed (100-120 mph). The coupling has numerous consequences:

  • It will increase the capacity of the rail

  • It will lower the air resistance

  • It will reduce the risk of collisions

The length of the trains will be adjusted according to demand. During night where the flow is very low, the rufs might drive alone. During rush hours, the trains will typically consist of 10 rufs.
