The economy of the system can be quite good.

The cost of the vehicle itself is small compared to the cost of a large bus. Many small vehicles are better than a few large vehicles. Maintenance of brakes in a bus is expensive. A maxi-ruf uses motorbraking, so the wheelbrakes will not need to be changed so often.

The chauffeur cost more than double the cost for maintenance of the vehicle. Since the main part of the trip is without chauffeur, the operating costs are reduced.

The fares can vary. Some pay a lot to get a very attractive trip, so the average fare will be higher than in a normal bus. This is only possible because the seats are separated from each other. The system can sell some seats to a higher price than others.

The same drive units can be used to transport passengers during day and goods during night..
